Early Life
Justin Hartley was born on January 29, 1977, in Knoxville, Illinois, near Galesburg. He grew up in the Chicago suburb of Orland Park with his siblings Nathan, Megan, and Gabriela. After graduating from Carl Sandburg High School, he attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale and University of Illinois at Chicago where he majored in history and theater.
Career
Justin Hartley's acting career began with his portrayal of Fox Crane on the NBC daytime soap opera Passions from 2002 to 2006. He then played Oliver Queen on the CW series Smallville, a role he held for several years.
In 2014, he took over the role of Adam Newman on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, a role that earned him a Daytime Emmy nomination. He also had recurring roles in the third season of Revenge and in the final three seasons of Mistresses.
He gained wider attention for starring as Kevin Pearson in the NBC drama series This Is Us from 2016 to 2022, earning him thrice nominations for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He has since starred in films such as A Bad Moms Christmas and The Noel Diary.
Personal Life
In 2003, Hartley began dating his Passions co-star Lindsay Korman. They got engaged six months later and married in a small ceremony in 2004. Their daughter was born the following year. However, they filed for divorce in 2012 citing irreconcilable differences.
In 2014, he started dating Chrishell Stause, with whom he got engaged in 2016 and married in 2017. They resided in Valley Glen, Los Angeles. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce in 2021.
In March 2021, Hartley married his Young and the Restless co-star Sofia Pernas.
