Early Life

Dan Reynolds, born on July 14, 1987, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He hails from Las Vegas, where he was the seventh of nine children, with eight brothers and one sister. His parents, Christene M. (née Callister) and Ronald Reynolds, were both natives of Nevada, making Dan a fourth-generation Nevadan.

As a Boy Scout, Dan earned his Eagle Scout rank in 2005. He was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). At 19, he volunteered as a full-time missionary in Nebraska for two years. By 2024, however, Dan had ceased practicing as a member of the LDS Church.

Career

After graduating from Bonanza High School, Dan attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), but later transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU) after serving his LDS mission. At BYU, he studied communications, marketing, and music, excelling academically.

It was during his time at BYU that Dan co-founded Imagine Dragons with drummer Andrew Tolman. The band won the school's Battle of the Bands competition before leaving to pursue music full-time.

Imagine Dragons released their debut studio album, Night Visions, in 2012. The album charted in the top ten on the Billboard 200 and was preceded by the single 'It's Time.'

The band's second album, Smoke + Mirrors, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, UK Albums Chart, and Canadian Albums Chart. Two of its singles, 'I Bet My Life' and 'Shots,' charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

Egyptian (2010)

Dan was invited to open for Nico Vega in 2010, where he met Aja Volkman, the group's lead singer. He asked her to help him finish some demos, and they formed Egyptian together.

Philanthropy

Imagine Dragons has been involved in various philanthropic efforts, including supporting The Tyler Robinson Foundation, which helps young people battling cancer. In 2015, the band released a track called 'I Was Me' with all proceeds going to the One4 project, helping fleeing refugees.
